The Explorer Belt contingent to Poland in 2018 had our first training camp on the 8th to 10th July at Herringfleet campsite near Lowestoft.

The participants got to know each other over the weekend through various activities including planning and going on a hike, rifle shooting, kayaking, fire lighting and backwards cooking.

Despite the rain Saturday lunchtime, the participants still got on and cooked their lunch on trangias under shelters that they constructed themselves. They timed the hike right so they got back to camp just as the heavens opened.

From the Friday night pizza takeaway (courtesy of one of the participants) to clearing up on Sunday, everyone had an enjoyable weekend and made new friends.

These are some super young people and I very much look forward to getting to know them even more on our next event in November 2016 (a triathlon of walking, cycling and canoeing in the west of the County) and beyond.
