Firstly, I would like to thank you for all that you are doing for our units and young people across Suffolk Scouts.

Secondly, I have some exciting news to announce that: Suffolk Scouts are teaming up with NCS (National Citizen service) through Inspire Suffolk!

NCS are a separate organization that, similar to Scouts, help provide young people, in this case 16-17 year old’s, with key skills to help them succeed in life (sounds familiar right?).

They are running a summer provision from the 16th August for 2 weeks (does not include residential, but an activity day instead). Not only does this provide an opportunity for our young people to take part in something over the summer period (often when Explorer Units aren’t meeting) but also as a charity it brings us an exciting opportunity to work with NCS and Inspire Suffolk to work closer to support, recruit and enable more young people across Suffolk with #Skillsforlife as well as much more.

The NCS programme supports elements of our Explorer Scout programme too, such as the Community stage badges right up to the top awards working through to the International Community and Value list.

Please see the attached information from Annie (also a fellow Scout) at Inspire Suffolk for our young people & parents / carers to find out all about this summer opportunity.

Here’s a video from Annie explaining a little more: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1QGfXwDPnko

And here’s a quick video that helps explain what it’s all about https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ruZ4wKYKkJg

Go to www.wearencs.com  to sign up and register -  when it asks for a school, simply search for ‘Suffolk Scouts’ to make sure you are on the right programme.

Please do share to your young people - it seems like a great opportunity.

I’m optimistic for a positive future working with NCS & Inspire Suffolk.

Thank for all that you do and best wishes.
