Gone Home - David Adams
ExpiredIt is with great sadness that I have been informed that David Adams passed away at the weekend following his battle with cancer.
He had been in Scouting for a number of years and was until just over a year ago the DESC and DSNC for Lowestoft District, when he took a step back due to ill health. David was a incredible leader and a true Scouter. I was extremely honoured to have him as part of the team for many years and learnt so much from him.
I know many of you in the County will have met David at various events, including his involvement with the Explorer Belt Expeditions.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Sarah, Sam, Jack and Harry during these sad times.

Hallowtree Tower Training Course
ExpiredHallowtree Activity Centre and Suffolk CMAT are running a training course for new instructors on artificial climbing walls and towers. The course is designed for novice instructors to be trained and to gain a climbing and abseiling permit under the P.O.R Adventurous Activities Permit Scheme.
The initial training will commence on Friday 17th March 6pm - 10pm (Theory) then Sunday 19th 9am - 5pm (Practical). This will provide the basic skills to then develop over a six to eight week period to prepare for assessment and to complete the permits.
The course is for over 18's who hold a warranted position within a group or district. Previous experience of climbing and abseiling is preferred but not essential. All applicants must be physically fit and be able to make both initial training sessions.
The CMAT Team have now published the application form for this event in March in the Lake District for Network and Leaders, Assistant Leaders and Section/Unit Assistants. Explorer Scouts may be invited to attend upon demonstrating expertise on other CMAT events.
We will offer hillwalking and training or assessment for a hillwalking permit. The weather is often severe at this time of year and attendees should come suitably prepared. An optional overnight wild camp will be offered to those with appropriate experience and equipment. Note this is an essential aspect of the Terrain 2 permit assessment but is not required for Terrain 1 or personal permit assessment.
