In May, to Herringfleet to visit the Lowestoft District Cub Camp – what a super site. I love a good campfire and I wasn’t disappointed. Lots of activities and great fun. Later on in May the Scout Network took part in a pilot for the HQ Community Challenge, clearing the rubbish from the river bank at Cattewade. No, this isn’t a tribal war dance.

I visited the Long Melford Open Day and had the opportunity to see their new Scout HQ. Most impressive and a tribute to the fund raising team.
On to Herringfleet to attend a Jamboree Contingent camp - the young people were certainly getting excited at the prospect of their trip to Sweden.
Then on to the 1st Coombs camp at Haughley Park. It was a fabulous campfire. I had an excellent night at 1st Carlton Colville where I was privileged to present awards to two of the Leaders in the Group. They certainly know how to throw a party.
Back to Haughley Park in June to attend 1st and 3rd Stowmarket's AGM and the presentation of more awards to Leaders. The weather managed to stay dry for the AGM around the campfire. It was good to see so many parents present. To Oulton Broad to present a Silver Acorn. The young people worked hard making woggles.
The Waveney Valley Cub Camp was another success. The Cubs were having so much fun on their 'back to basics' camp.
I attended all but one District AGM, presenting awards to a number of Leaders, and have really been inspired to see how hard the Leaders are working to bring good Scouting to the young people in Suffolk. I also attended several Group AGMs including Bacton, Mendlesham and Eye to present awards to Leaders.

This weekend I visited the County Wet Weekend at Rams Holt and the weather was amazing. It was good to see so many young people enjoying themselves on the water.
I then visited the Bury District Camp at Bradfield, which was fabulous. There were so many activities for young people ranging from archery to a climbing wall, rope walks to making twists. I seem to remember water balloons, which seemed to be cooling everyone down.
Last night I visited 2nd Carlton Colville for another awards ceremony. Congratulations to all of the Leaders who have been recognised in the St Goerge’s Honours List this year.
