If you were camping this past weekend, and I know a lot of you were, didn’t you choose well?. It has been glorious!

I visited Stowmarket District camp at Haughley Park on Saturday. I was able to present Gerard Brewster, Dave Newbery and Bob Delf with the bar to the Silver Acorn. All done very informally at the Campfire. The Campfire run by Leigh Foster with the help of Stowmarket Leaders was great fun. I love a good sing-song and we certainly sang with gusto.

On the previous weekend Leigh and the training team ran module 38 at Hallowtree. It was so good to see so many Leaders learning new skills.

I was in Lowestoft last week at 2nd Carlton Colville to present David Greenacre with the Silver Acorn. David has spent over 30 years with the Group and is held in such high esteem. Some of his Scouts from 20 years ago turned up unexpectedly to the presentation. One of them said that his Scout years were the best years of his life.

I was privileged to be invited to a Jubilee Evensong at Bury St Edmunds Cathedral on Sunday. It was a wonderful celebration .

I’m planning a jubilee garden party for my family next week - lots of cakes, garden games and memory making for my grandchildren, great nieces and nephews. Whatever you are doing whether it be a street party, a family get together or just relaxing, have a wonderful time.
