Well here we are again at the start of another term. I hope you all enjoyed your summer break. I know that some of you camped in appalling conditions but if it’s any consolation those are the camps you’ll remember the most, how it tested your Scouting abilities and how you all survived.

All of us who camped over the Millennium and Centenary weekends still talk of mud up to our ankles and holding down tents in the middle of the night!

I visited the Essex Jamboree last week it was a fantastic event. I met lots of Leaders from Suffolk. 7,500 Scouts and Guides and 2,500 volunteers have been taking part from all over the world.

I have just returned from the annual Mela organised by the Ipswich and Suffolk Indian Association. This year it was held on the Corn Hill in Ipswich. It had been planned for July in Christchurch Park but was postponed because of bad weather. Graham Parker and Leaders from Wolsey District manned our Scout stand. We all had a good time and the weather this time was kind to us. There were plenty of enquiries for both adults and young people and we are hopeful they will bear fruit.

You will see in County News that Richard Freeman our County Archivist is asking for assistance with the County Archives, which is so important for the County. If you do feel you can help I know that Richard will be pleased to hear from you.

Here is a final reminder about the County AGM. It will take place at Somerleyton Hall on 27th September 7.45pm
for 8pm. I do hope you are able to attend. Please let Peter Buckle know if you can.
