Jenny's Christmas Journal 2011
ExpiredWell, another year almost finished. I am so pleased that I was able to visit so many of you during the year and to hear your views on Scouting.
The overwhelming message seems to be that you are enjoying it and this comes from both the Leaders and the young people, from Beaver Scouts to Scout Network.
Jenny's Journal - Nov 2011
ExpiredLast month I was invited to their Annual Firework Display by Orwell District. It was held at Hallowtree. What a fabulous, fun night! This was a real family affair. It reminded me of a village fair, with lots of stalls, each one set up by a different Group. I was asked to judge the pumpkins and the fancy dress – not an easy task. The standard was high for both, with everybody joining in the spirit of the evening. It was good to see so many parents along with their children.
Group Finder
ExpiredWe've been busy over the weekend creating a great new feature, Group Finder.
It allows you to put in your own postcode and find Scout Groups in your local area. You can also choose which sections you are looking for, as well as change the distance.
All of the results are displayed on a nice interactive map (c/o Google), and you can get directly in contact with the groups from the same page!
We hope you enjoy it; please bear in mind we are slowly adding in groups day by day. If however we don't seem to have your group showing up, get in touch with us via the "Contact Us" link!
Note: The IE issue has been fixed!
New Activities at Hallowtree
ExpiredTwo brand new activities have been inspired, developed and created at Hallowtree Campsite by the 11th Ipswich Scout Group.
You can now be a player in the Human Football table where you become the plastic man. Challenge other scout groups to a game!
Jenny's Journal - Oct 11
ExpiredI have just checked my diary entries for September and October and find that it seems to have been fairly quiet. At the beginning of September I spent the weekend at Gilwell for the Annual Re-union . Over 2000 Leaders attended this year and were able to camp, to see and participate in some new programme ideas, attend talks and discussion groups on a number of topics and attend the two, or was it four dances and discos. The ABBA Girls performed on the Saturday night and ABBA-costumed peopled filled the dancefloor for a mass nostalgic party. It was awsome! Why not try it next year?
Jenny Flies a Plane!
ExpiredHow lucky am I? I was invited by 1st Carlton Colville Air Scout Group to visit their Scout Camp in Tibenham, Norfolk. The journey there and back was very worthwhile because not only did they serve me with both lunch and dinner, but also they let me fly!
